(At the races)

Horses, indelibly jaunty, kill laps (matted neighs).
Orphans, pawns, queens, rabble-rousers, stand to
Undo velocity. “Winner! Xerxes!” yells Zachary.

This is an Abecedarian sequence. The featured image is “At the Races, Longchamps” by Pierre Bonnard painted in 1894. This work by Bonnard is in the public domain.
